The article deals with the topical issues of the origin and development of the legal consciousness in the Russian society since adoption of Christianity and until the present time. The author considers the research data reviewing the current legal awareness of Russians in accordance with the historical and mindset peculiarities of perception of the basics of law, legislation and attitudes over the time.
