The article dwells upon the requirements to the contents of fiction for children. It describes the criteria estimated by the editor, taking the product to print. The theoretical statements are supported by some examples from the works of modern Belarusian literature for children. It reveals some minuses in the editorial preparation of the publications under analysis, gives recommendations to authors and editors to improve the contents of the works.
