TL;DRAbstract

The Latin term pudor when applied to women in Ovid’s work gives us a glimpse of what was considered appropriate behavior within the Roman society, according to the poet. This higly polysemous word encompasses a sens of honor and female chastity, shame and modesty to their body and sexuality, still it has not been studied much for women. Ovid gives us his vision of these different meanings but also the consequences of the female ovidian pudor who appears to be a true moral strength. This paper is about the studying of all the occurrences of pudor which the poet uses this word to designate women.
