This chapter examines the role and function of ethical issues in law films and suggests why this is often so important. It determines the ethical norms that exist and the extent to which lawyers are prepared to depart from codes of professional conduct in order to achieve what it perceives to be justice. It suggests the professional ethics of cinematic lawyers provides the mechanism that allows the audience to engage with complex characters and it contributes on a basis level to the film viewing public's understanding of law and the legal system.
