Charles Rennie Mackintosh: a comparison between 'The Hill House' and the 'House for an Art Lover'

Caroline Sarojini Hart-2009-01-01-UPT. Syiah Kuala University Library (Syiah Kuala University)

TL;DRAbstract

The objective of this dissertation is to determine whether Andy MacMillan's interpretation of the House for an Art Lover endures Mackintosh's legacy by comparing it to The Hill House, an existing build by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. It is important to consider the quality of craftsmanship and the architectural translation. This investigation will provide a detailed analysis of each building including the reasoning behind Mackintosh's original designs. I believe that the only way to truly understand the character and design of the buildings will be to experience them first hand because illustrations and words would not do it justice.
