This work intends to question the discussions about art and its approach to Social Work.First we tried to make a background on the social function of art throughout the ages and how the role of art changed with the advent of capitalism, transforming the relations of work and creation.The hypothesis is that art as a tool for Social Work serves to stimulate critical awareness of man, leading him to his emancipation, besides being an innovative feature in the instrumentality of Social Service able to strengthen the ethical-political project of the profession.Through literature search found that the production on this area of social work is still scarce.Despite of a timid approach of the class on the subject, there is a pressing need to deepen the relationship on Social Work and Art.
