TL;DRAbstract

The purpose of the present article is to explore the economic and financial reality of the public utility associations the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands (Spain) at the beginning of the economic crisis, analyzing the period 2004- 2009, and making it possible to obtain an x-ray of some general financial characteristics of these organizations during that temporal horizon. The public utility associations are not of the same nature as the rest of Spain¿s public administration entities, although they perform some equally valuable collaborative functions with them, assuming part of their functions that do not lie outside the public terrain and the provision of this type of services.
