Opinion 2266 (Case 3494) Atlanta inflata Gray, 1850 (Mollusca, Gastropoda, pterotracheoidea, atlantidae): specific name conserved

Iczn-2011-03-01-The Bulletin of zoological nomenclature

TL;DRAbstract

The Commission has ruled that the specific name of the heteropod Atlanta inflata Gray, 1850 (atlantidae), originally published as a primary homonym of the pteropod Atlanta inflata d'Orbigny, 1836 (usually cited as Limacina inflata, currently Heliconoides inflata) (limacinidae), is not invalid by reason of being a junior primary homonym. This conserves the name of a heteropod commonly found in Pacific Ocean plankton.
