The task of a reviewer would seem to involve judging the book against the aims the author has set himself and also to assess the usefulness of the book for those likely to read the review. The former is rather difficult for the foreward merely states that consumer advocates have been thrilled by the liberality of US courts in product liability cases and then goes on to state that details of the defensive measures taken by US manufacturers and marketers will be studied. I should guess that the latter will be more agreeable to most of the readers of this journal. But clearly in today's world of international trade and multi-national corporations, the corporate lawyer is well advised to be aware of his company's potential liability for defective products. Any company connected to the USA should be particularly concerned since the generous product liability laws and damage awards available there...
