Selection and cartographic presentation of the bicycle route EuroVelo 9 across Slovenia

TL;DRAbstract

Thesis discusses cartographic presentation of bicycle trail between Ljubljana and Sečevlje. The trail is
\na part of EuroVelo 9 bicycle route within EuroVelo project which covers a network of long distance
\nbicycle routes over Europe. Popularity gaining bicycle tourism is presented and characteristics of
\ntypical route users are described along with their habits and requirements. Further, some popular
\nbicycle routes in Slovenia and abroad are presented. Thesis focuses on criteria and recommendations
\nfor building long distance routes in EuroVelo network. They served as evaluation basis for possible
\nvariants of long distance route between Ljubljana and Sečovlje. By means of terrain inspection,
\ncriteria for choosing the appropriate option were proposed. All options are analysed and evaluated.
\nThe best route variant is finally presented on 17 sheets at 1 : 30 000 map scale.
