Atmospheric Transport Model Studies for Sweden — Comparison to EMEP Model Results and Evaluation of Precipitation Chemistry Station Networks
TL;DRAbstract
ConclusionsComparisons between MATCH and EMEP results for total deposition over Sweden show larger values for the MATCH estimates, especially for reduced nitrogen. The differences are however smaller for the last year of the study (1997).Annual wet deposition patterns over Sweden and the total integrated deposition to Sweden of sulphur and nitrogen are not very sensitive to a reduction of about 25% of the present stations in the National Precipitation Chemistry Network. The results indicate that about 30 stations of good quality can give satisfactory information concerning annual deposition on a national scale. The additional regional station network in Sweden, with about 100 stations, has not been studied so far, but the present results imply that there might be a possibility to reduce the number of samplers in that network. Our conclusion, that it is possible to reduce the National Precipitation Chemistry Network with only small changes in the calculated annual wet deposition pattern
