The Silurian Qalibah Formation “hot shale” has been known as the principal source of hydrocarbons in the main Paleozoic reservoirs of the Arabian Gulf. These shales geochemically correlate with the generated and expelled hydrocarbons during the different generation stages of its maturation history.
