TL;DRAbstract

This work presents a study of the radio frequency identification technology, RFID. The components of the system, transponder, reader and host are discussed here. This work also explains the principles of functioning for each type of RFID system, either it 1-bit or n-bit transponder. In addition to the technological study, also issues about the standardization of the system are presented, which, for it being a still recent technology in great expansion, are very important. Smart cards are also analyzed and their main technological aspects and types are evidenced. Finally, a RFID kit is used for better understanding of all the previously studied aspects.
