In the Einsiedeln MS 179 (10th c.) it is said in an accessus ad auctorem about Symmachus, Boethius' father-in-law, that he, before he was executed, dixit sententiam pro aleot in senatu, laid claim to his aleot in the senate'. The A. considers the form aleot as a variant to OHG alot(i) / alod(i) estate, heritage' and attempts to explain the linguistic differences with philological and codicological arguments
