The work has been done as a case study with semi-structured interviews. The purpose of the study was to find a reason for the limited activity in the port of Lödöse, as well as the potential for expanding the business. By comparing the port with an analogous, the physical conditions have been determined as well as their impact on the business. Also, the future potential of the port has been investigated. Two different cases have been examined: what impact the implementation of the Directive 2006/87 for inland waterways will have for the port of Lödöse and if there are any potential in further investments in the current business segment.
