TL;DRAbstract

Objective:To investigate preliminarily the distribution of hepatitis B virus (HBV) genotypes in southern Sichuan area and its clinical significance. Methods:Nested PCR with genotype-specific primers was employed to study the 80 serum specimen collected from chronic HBV infected individuals with positive HBV-DNA in southern Sichuan area including 26 cases of asymptomatic HBV carrier,35 cases of mild or moderate chronic hepatitis,13 cases of severe hepatitis or cirrhosis of liver and 6 cases of hepatocellular carcinoma. Results:Among the 80 individuals,64 cases were genotype B(80%),12 cases were genotype C(15%) and 4 cases were BC mixed-genotype(5%).Average age of individuals with genotype B was younger than those with genotype C (P0.01) while positive rate of HBeAg and serum level of HBV-DNA were higher than those with genotype C (P0.01;P0.05).There were no significant differences of indexes related to liver function damage (ALT,AST and TBIL) between genotype B and C.Conclusion:The HBV ge
