TL;DRAbstract

The article concerns shaping forms of furniture. The pieces of furniture are in the shape of thin plates curved in one direction and bent in the same direction. Different static schemes are considered and the most unfavourable loads are applied. Structural behaviour of these items of furniture is discussed and qualitative methods how to draw bending moment diagrams are presented. The material contained in the paper can be a source of inspiration for the design of variable thickness plates, which are optimal in terms of material consumption and satisfy the conditions of strength.
