Situación del lince ibérico Lynx pardinus en la Sierra de Gata y aledaños
TL;DRAbstract
Status of the Iberian lynx in Sierra de Gata and surrounding areas. The results of a study carried out about the situation of the Iberian lynx in Sierra de Gata and bordering areas (Salamanca –Spain-) in 1998 and 1999 are presented. To detect the species in the study area was the first objetive and, in such a case, to estimate its abundance too. Twelve sampling methods during 252 field journeys were applied. 19 signs were attributed to lynx or “lynx/other species” by researchers. Genetic analysis over 12 scats ascribed to lynx or “lynx/other species” were developed, but no one was assigned to lynx. Over a snow run a possible lynx’s track was found. 77 references about the presence of the species were recolected. From the results, we consider that Lagomorpha are scarce in the area. According to the results, we cannot estimate concretely the status of Lynx pardinus in the study area. In anycase, we consider it as very scarce.
