Optimization of nitrogen use for the production of chrysanthemum crop irrigated with treated wastewater.

0

TL;DRAbstract

This study aims to evaluate the nitrogen status and its optimization under irrigation with different water of variable nitrogen concentrations: treated wastewater (infiltrationpercolation) (TWW), artesian well saline water supplied with fertilizer nutrient (SWF) and the alternation of both water sources (AT) using chrysanthemum coronarium as an indicator plant. The experiment included two irrigation regimes 100% and 120% ETM, and was conducted in the greenhouse on sandy soils, at Ben Sergao, experimental station of the ORMVA/SM. The results obtained showed clearly that the irrigation with treated wastewater resulted in a better improvement in both the plant growing parameters and the flower production with respect to the artesian saline water as well as when irrigation was practised by the alternation of both investigated water resources. However, this was not the case with respect to the nitrogen status, hence, the initial nitrate concentration in the water source is the dominant fact
