The major purpose of this investigation was to determine if professional commitment can be developed in a professional training program for undergraduates in home economics education at the University of Nebraska. Objectives for this study were (1) to determine if the development of professional commitment of home economics majors increased during Phase I of the Professional Semester Program, (2) to determine if the professional commitment of home economics education majors was due to the chronological maturity of the students during the course of the semester, (3) to determine if grade point average was related to the extent of professional commitment of a student and (4) to determine if the total number of completed semesters of homemaking on the junior and senior high level was a significant factor in the professional commitment of home economics education majors.
