Recently the profile of sustainable office buildings has increased substantially with many stakeholders in the property market consistently being reminded about green buildings. Whilst sustainable buildings have advanced in many aspects including design and construction, there remains a strong argument that the financial viability of a building will determine to what degree a building is allowed to be sustainable. The majority of office buildings are owned by enterprises that are profit-seeking as their first priority, rather than sustainability as their first priority, and consequently the financial drivers relating to sustainability must be fully incorporated into any decisions about a sustainable building. It can be argued that no viable competitive business would rather be green than make a profit for its shareholders. Overlooking these financial considerations may ensure the building in not viable and competitive in the open property market, which in turn will limit the amount of
