TL;DRAbstract

Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is an alteration of the vaginal flora, where normally predominant lactobacilli are replaced with organisms including Gardnerella vaginalis and anerobic bacteria. BV has a higher prevalence among sexually active women and a high risk factor to develop pelvic inflammatory disease and pregnancy. BV may also increase susceptibility to sexual transmission of HIV. The aim of the study was to investigate the factors which influence the incidence of BV among commercial sex workers and masseuses . The results showed that there was no significant difference of the prevalence of BV between commercial sex workers and masseuses. The factors that influenced the presence of BV were numbers of sexual partners, intrauterin device and hormonal contraception use. The results sugested to be carried out the routine screening on commercial sex workers and masseuses in order to treat the disorder founded as soos as possible.
