TL;DRAbstract

The tomato is a worldwide crop very important, which is threatened by the parasitic weed Orobanche ramosa in the Mediterranean. The broomrape is completely devoid of chlorophyll which, after having fixed on the roots of its host and connected to conductive tissues, unloads water and nutrients necessary for its development. The objective of this work is double: on the side of the host, to evaluate the importance of grafting for the tomato productivity under broomrape infestation. In a first time, the sensitivity to the broomrape of 28 resistant tomato rootstocks to soil-borne pathogens was determined. All have proved susceptible to the parasite, but with the existence of variability in this characteristic among the tested rootstocks. The sensitivity seems to depend on the rootstocks root biomass. In a second step, the effect of graft on the productivity of the tomato and susceptibility to broomrape was analyzed with three rootstocks and two different varieties. This work has shown the b
