Our scientific interest is devoted to electrosynthesis and characterization of thiophenebased \nconducting polymers (CP). We are involved in the synthesis of materials where \nthe backbone is made up of terthiophene and N-chelating moieties (terpyridine or 1,10- \nphenanthroline). Herein we report the synthesis of three new molecules, where the two \nfragments are linked by an acetylene tether: 4â-(2,2â:5â,2â-terthien-3â-ethynyl)- \n2,2â:6â,2â-terpyridine (TAT), 5-(2,2':5',2''-terthien-3'-ethynyl)-1,10-phenanthroline \n(TAF5) and 4-(2,2':5',2''-tertien-3'-ethynyl)-1,10-phenanthroline (TAF4). These \nmolecules were electropolymerized by potentiostatic and potentiodynamic techniques, \nand the corresponding polymers were characterized by cyclic voltammetry, UV-Vis \nspectroelectrochemistry, IR and SEM.
