A thematic analysis of serious case reviews in order to chart the application of Munro’s recommendations in order to recommend future actions
TL;DRAbstract
This study explores the link between serious case reviews and the Munro review of child protection. The study aims to explore the downfalls in current child protection practices and highlight improvements that can be made to protect children and improve social work practice, in turn creating better outcomes for service users. The research draws upon 26 serious case reviews from November 2012 to November 2013. The main links made between the Munro review and serious case reviews are; the voice of the child, multi-agency working and professional confidence. These were areas identified by the author that are reoccurring themes in the literature as areas that need improvements. The author then offers 15 recommendations aimed at professionals, Local authorities and the government.
